SQLite
SQLite is an open-source, embedded SQL database engine. It is the default database for Rails 2.x and is well-suited to development and test environments (but not generally used on web servers). Unlike most other SQL databases, SQLite does not have a separate server process. A complete SQL database with multiple tables, indices, triggers, and views, is contained in a single disk file.
